Sharapova’s Exit Leaves Wimbledon Womens Betting Wide Open

Pre-tournament favourite Maria Sharapova has left the women’s draw at Wimbledon wide open after losing to German Sabine Lisicki in the fourth round.

Sharapova was $1.09 to advance to the quarter-finals, but was stopped in straight sets. She was the $3 tournament favourite.

15th seed, Lisiki, had her price slashed from $51 into $11 following her defeat of Sharapova.

Serena Williams survived a scare to set up a clash with defending champion Petra Kvitova. Williams ($3.50) is now the favourite, while Kvitova is on the third line of betting.

Angelique Kerber has been the biggest firmer ($34 into $7) following a crushing victory over Kim Clijsters. She now meets Sabine Lisiki with that section of the draw now made easier with Sharapova gone.

Juan Martin Del Potro has been heavily supported in his match against David Ferrer; including $35,000 at $1.86.
